What is Counselling & Psychotherapy?

Counselling is a type of talking therapy which is provided by trained practitioners, known as Counsellors and or Psychotherapists. Counsellors & Psychotherapists work with people from all backgrounds for lots of reasons, this can be on a long or short-term basis.

Who is counselling for?

There is no specific set of problems you need to be facing to benefit from counselling. Counselling is responsive to you as an individual and if you feel that exploring your emotions or difficulties would be beneficial, counselling is for you. You do not need to be referred by a professional (such as your GP) and your sessions will continue for as long as you and your counsellor feel they are beneficial: there is no limit to how long you come to counselling.
